Military divorce rate stays low

Pauline Jelinek of the Associated Press reports that the divorce rate in the armed forces held steady at 3.3% in 2007. This rate represents more than 25,000 failed marriages among nearly 755,000 married active duty troops in all military branches between October 1, 2006 and October 1, 2007.

Paul Boyce, spokesperson for the army, said the divorce rate is low because there are “strong programs…and a sense of real teamwork among the families.”
